NARS 'Some Like It Hot' Lip Bag (Nordstrom Exclusive)

Another item that I pick up from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale was the NARS Some Like it Hot Lip Bag ($49).  It is “a scandalous threesome of luxurious lip textures in modern nude hues and whisper-soft pinks.”
Set includes:
- Full-size Pago Pago Lipstick a shimmering Nude Pink
- Mini Gold Digger Larger Than Life Lip Gloss Sparkling Peach Shimmer
- Mini Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bettina a  natural rose beige sheen
- Limited edition covetable carry-all NARS tote bag.
L to R: Pago Pago, Bettina, Gold Digger
Now I already have Pago Pago in my lippie collection but I love it so much that a back up is not a bad thing.  See it reviewed previously here. Gold Digger is described as a peach shimmer and that is pretty exact. It’s a lighter peach with multicolor shimmer that is beautiful on its own or layered on top of anything.  One thing I did notice is that the Larger Than Life glosses smell ten times better than the original NARS glosses, which has a plastic smell. The LTL have almost no scent at all, me likey that much better.  Bettina is a pretty mauvey rose shimmer that is little more fall looking in my book so I definitely see myself wearing a ton in the fall and winter. It looks awesome topped with the Gold Digger gloss.  Overall a great lip bag with stand out NARS products. NARS also released a deeper wine lip bag as well for the Sale, so if that is more your thing check out the Baiser de Feu Lip Bag.

Some more Rimmel Show Off Shades…

I picked up a few more shades of Rimmel’s Show Offs Lip Lacquers ($4.99) at Walgreens the other day.  I have been loving the first shades I bought so I thought why not try a few more!  Stargazer a light golden shade with bits of shimmer and Luna is a beautiful bright peach color shade that looks great as an everyday shade.  Again, Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers are super pigmented lipgloss/lipstick hybrids that have a lightweight creamy feel with a satiny finish.

L to R: Luna, Stargazer

Overall, I am super impressed with this drugstore steal from Rimmel.  Not only is it light and long-lasting on the lips, it is not drying at all.  I would recommend checking out this product at your local drugstore, it’s a must have!

Chantecaille Spring 2013 Lip Review: Lip Chic in Daphne & Luminous Gloss in Pink Melon

For Spring 2013, Chantecaille has released a collection contain 2 new shades of Lip Chic’s (Daphne & Rose Delice $32) and 2 new shades Luminous Glosses (Pink Melon & Framboise $34). I have read many review of the Chantecaille line but have never purchased anything until now.  I picked up Daphne Lip Chic and Pink Melon Luminous Gloss, both which are absolutely stunning!
First, let’s talk about the Lip Chic in Daphne.  The Lip Chic formula is a hybrid, part gloss and part lipstick. It’s a highly emollient formula that offers the even coverage of a lipstick with the high shine and plumping effects of a gloss (formula contains collagen).  Daphne is a peachy pink with a creamy semi-opaque finish, perfect for everyday wear.  I found that this product was easy to apply and wears comfortably with excellent lasting power for a glossy lipstick.
Luminous Gloss in Pink Melon is a stunning light pink with subtle shimmer. It has nice pigmentation when worn and doesn’t settle into lip lines like so lighter lip gloss shades. The gloss applies smoothly and evenly; leaving the lips glossy and hydrated.  The formula feels slightly tacky, but wears nicely.  On its own, Pink Melon is really beautiful but it also is the perfect compliment to Daphne.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Hydrafull Gloss

Being a Sephora Beauty Insider, you get treated to special gifts with purchase from time to time. Recently Sephora offered a full size of Anastasia Beverly Hills Hydrafull Gloss ($18 retail) in the color Moi with a $25 purchase. I jump to the chance to try out this gloss so I placed an order. First off, Anastasia BH Hydrafull Gloss describes this gloss as a “clinically tested gloss proven to help maximize and maintain lip hydration and fullness. This long-wearing lip gloss features "Kiss Me Quick" plant extract that helps to increase volume and fullness in lips, Brown Algae , a key ingredient that smoothes, firms, hydrates, and revitalizes the appearance of skin, and Balkan Botanical®Infusion—Anastasia's exclusive antioxidant-rich complex that helps soften, soothe and hydrate skin..”
I did find that my lips felt hydrated and moisturized when the gloss was applied as well as a little after it had worn off. This gloss has a pretty thick consistency but I don’t find it too sticky or heavy like some other glosses. Anastasia uses as "innovative silicone paddle" applicator which I'm not crazy about so I have been using a lip brush to apply. I find that I get a much smoother and even application using the brush. Another thing I really like about this gloss is the scent; it reminds me of a creamsicle, YUM! Moi is a neutral pink with a cream finish. It’s a perfect "my lips but better" shade that is well pigmented and gives a natural, glossy look to the lips. This is a perfect color for everyday. Thanks Sephora for a great free gift!

Edward Bess Deep Shine Lipgloss in Lover’s Desire & Ultra Slick Lipstick in Lotus Bloom

Edward Bess has introduced some new shades of his Ultra Slick Lipstick ($32) & Deep Shine Lipgloss ($30). But with these new shades it looks as if some of his older shades were discontinued, such as two of my favorite shades, Secret Desire Lipstick and Endless Love Lipgloss (sad face). But I am hoping that his new shades will be equally as amazing as every shade I have tried. Here is a run down of the new shades of glosses & lipsticks:

Ultra Slick Lipstick:
• Midnight Hour - Cool PinkDeep Shine Lipgloss:
• Forbidden Love - Beige Coral
• Night Jasmine – Raspberry Mauve
• Roulette Rouge – True Red
• Naked Truth – Beige Nude
• Lotus Bloom – Peachy Pink

Deep Shine Lip Gloss
• Stolen Kiss – Baby Pink (Looks Similar to Endless Love)
• Lover’s Desire – Peachy Neutral
• Wild Passion – Berry Mauve
• Nude Whisper – True Beige
I picked up two of the new shades; Deep Shine Lipgloss in Lover’s Desire and Ultra Slick Lipstick in Lotus Bloom. Lover’s Desire is a peachy pink with a cream finish; it’s kind of like Secret Desire Deep Shine Lipstick but in lipgloss form! It has great pigmentation, like all of Edward’s glosses that it’s easy to wear on its own or over a lipstick. I find that all the Deep Shine lipglosses have great staying power which is I believe is due to the thickness of the formula. I can drink a cup of coffee and this gloss will last through, most don’t on my lips.
Lover's Desire
Lotus Bloom is just the color I have been looking for recently, a true peach. It’s described as a Peachy Pink on Sephora’s website but I don’t see much pink as you can see from my swatches. It’s a buttery smooth color that glides on easily. Lover’s Desire and Lotus Bloom make a perfect combo for a soft peach lip. I am totally in love with both!!

Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Collection: Bronzed Heather High Shimmer Lip Gloss

High Shimmer is the newest lip gloss formula released by Bobbi Brown. It offers light-catching shimmer and lasting, non-sticky shine. This is my first time trying this formula and I have to say that I really enjoy it. One thing I really like about the High Shimmer formula is the scent of the gloss; it’s like a sweet mint. I much prefer this to the scent of all the other glosses. Now that I think about it, the Rich Color Gloss has this same scent.

Bronzed Heather is described on the BB website as a Pink nude with gold flecks and I must say that description is a little off. When I think of pink nude, I think of a much lighter pink color that the color of this gloss. To me it’s more of a plumy pink with high gold shimmer. As you can tell from the swatch, this gloss does have a lot of shimmer and is super high shine. I was worried about the color at first, I thought it may be to dark for me, but that wasn’t the case at all. It’s actually quite beautiful on and almost gives my lips a bronzy hue. The formula is moderately thick and has decent pigmentation. This shade is going to be a great shade for Fall and I definitely see myself wearing it a lot!

Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Collection: Pink Sunset Shimmer Lip Gloss

Pink Sunset Shimmer Lip Gloss ($23)  is one of two limited edition shades of Shimmer Lip Gloss released with the Fall 2012 Desert Twilight Collection, the other being Twilight. Pink Sunset is described as Pink Champagne, which is pretty spot on.  It’s not very pigmented by it does add a beautiful iridescence to lips on its own.  Applied over almost any shade of lipstick it adds a soft shimmer with lots of shine.  All of Bobbi’s Shimmer Lip Glosses are formulated with Aloe Extract, Vitamin C & E, Jojoba and Avocado Oils to soften, soothe and moisturize lips.  Pink Sunset is an easy color to throw on in a hurry and looks very natural. I find myself reaching for it almost everyday.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Sweet Excesses Glassy Gloss in Rhubarb Custard

Rouge Bunny Rouge has released five gorgeous pinkish shades of Glassy Gloss with the Mistral Look for Summer 2012. I haven’t had a chance to try the Glassy Gloss formula, so I thought what better time than now. Out of the five shades, which all look beautiful, I chose Rhubarb Custard. The RBR site describes these shades as “milky nude rosewood – an irreplaceable my-lips-but-better colour.” It’s definitely a my lips but better color, a warm neutral pink. The new shades have “a new ultra glossy formula that combines a non-sticky finish with intense moisturizing properties which have an immediate effect on dry skin. Rose Seed Extract smoothes away fine lines, rejuvenates and regains lost natural colour and skin tone while Vitamin E works as an anti-oxidant.”
I did find the Glassy Gloss formula to be moisturizing and non-sticky. I have super dry lips that peel and crack all the time, so I constantly have something on my lips.  Even after the color wore off, my lips still felt pretty hydrated and soft.  The texture is rather thick and applies quite smoothly and evenly. This gloss has descent staying power but not the greatest; I found I have to apply a couple times through out the day.  Another thing that I really like is the scent of this product, it reminds my of sweet tarts or some candy, I can’t quite decide.  Anyway, overall I really like the RBR Glassy Gloss formula and may have to check out more shades in the future.

Le Métier de Beauté Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss in Ibiza

Le Métier de Beauté Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss ($32) is a very sheer gloss that gives a subtle tint with lots of shine. All the shades offered are very elegant and classic shades that are universal.  They contain vitamin E and Lanolin to soften & moisturize the lips.  I found that the texture is very silky and applies easily and is not sticky what so ever.
Le Métier gloss in Ibiza is a soft warm shimmery pink.  It gives my lips a touch of pink with a super glossy shimmery finish.  It’s not the longest wearing lip gloss but the color and effect it gives to the lips sure is beautiful. One other thing I like about this gloss is that it has no scent.  I prefer my gloss without to heavy of a scent or none at all, so that’s a plus in my book.  Ibiza works great on its own but looks even better applied over your favorite pink or peach lipstick.  I couldn't get a good swatch photo because the gloss could barely be seen on my hand. Sorry!

MAC Cremesheen Glass in Private Screening

Cremesheen Glasses ($19.50) are becoming my favorite glosses offered by MAC.  I love the consistency and the pigmentation they have.  The formula is lightweight, creamy, and non-sticky compared to the regular MAC lipglass.  The colors have no shimmer and deliver a light wash of color.  MAC’s new collection Reel Sexy offers up three new shades of Cremesheen glasses and I picked up one, Private Screening.
MAC describes Private Screening as a mid-toned peach, but to me it has a little more pink than peach.  It gives a sheer milky finish that adds just a touch of color to my lips.  This color works brilliantly over top of most of my lipsticks, which is what I normally look for in a gloss. Overall, love this color! Glad it has made its way into my handbag.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

One of my newer purchases is the Urban Decay NAKED 2 palette ($50). I picked it up at Ulta with a gift card that I got for Christmas. I debated over and over again whether or not to get this palette because I already own the original NAKED palette. After reading some mixed reviews on various other blogs,  I had to see the palette in person for myself to decide if I needed to add this to my makeup collection.  As soon as I laid eyes on it, I new I had to have it!
The palette comes with 12 eyeshadow shades in various finishes; matte, satin, shimmer & shimmer with glitter.  The majority of the colors in this palette are cooler compared with the original palette which is much warmer.  All the shades are different from the original with the exception of Half Baked.  The palette also comes with a travel size Lip Junkie in Naked, a sheer neutral pink with a slight shimmer and the Good Karma shadow/crease brush.

Here is a rundown of the shades in the palette:
Foxy - pale yellow beige (matte)
Half Baked - golden bronze (shimmer)
Booty Call - peachy beige (satin)
Chopper - copper (shimmer w-glitter)
Tease - deep mauve brown (matte)
Snakebite - dark bronze (shimmer)
Suspect - pale golden beige (shimmer)
Pistol - gray brown (shimmer)
Verve - pale greige (shimmer)
YDK - cool mocha bronze (shimmer w-glitter)
Busted - deep brown with purple undertones (shimmer)
Blackout - deep black (matte)
All the shades are buttery and soft with amazing color payoff.  Here are swatches of all the shades on NC 20 skin:
Foxy, Half Baked, Booty Call, Chopper

Tease, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol

Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout

Here is a pic of the mini Lip Junkie in Naked. I love the minty smell and taste of this gloss. It's a very easy gloss to just throw on when your on the go.  The double ended brush is ok, not my favorite.  Probably won't get much use out of it.  Wish this palette came with a double liner like the original did, I used that up pretty quickly.
Overall, I really have enjoyed using this palette to create several different eye looks, some basic and others more dramatic. I would have to say that my favorite colors in the palette are Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK & Snakebite.  I have definitely used those colors the most.  If you don't have either of the Urban Decay palette, I would suggest you go out and get a least one of them. I am really love the NAKED 2 palette right now over the original but who knows, that could change!

Edward Bess Deep Shine Lip Gloss in French Lace

I have a new favorite lip gloss in my life, French Lace Deep Shine Lip gloss by Edward Bess ($30). One of the most beautiful colors I have seen in a long time, this gorgeous neutral creamy pink enhances my natural lip color perfectly.  I love all my Deep Shine lip glosses but this has to be my favorite by far.  I have been wearing it pretty much everyday since I bought it, the tube is almost half gone!  I can't think of one thing I don't like about this gloss.  I love the fig scent and the shine it gives my lips is just perfection.  It can be a little on the sticky side but I think that's what helps it last on my lips. Overall a great gloss to have in your collection if your a neutral chick like me.

You can find Edward Bess at EdwardBess.com , neimanmarcus.com or bergdorfgoodman.com.  And recently Edward Bess products can be found on Sephora.com!!  I was super excited when I heard that news.  I have some gift cards burning a hole in my pocket that I can spend on some new EB products.

Chanel Extrait de Gloss: Insouciance

I have been waiting patiently for my Chanel counters to receive the new Chanel Extrait de Gloss. Extrait de Gloss is a new formula from Chanel that is an intense colour long wear lip gloss. I have been salivating over them after reading about them on various other blogs.  So went I passed by my local Chanel counter I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had arrived. To my surprise,  I only went home with one of the colors, Insouciance. The pinks in the collection were a little to pink for me, especially for fall. If I do wear pinks in the fall they are usually warmer and not as bright.  Extrait de Gloss has a very creamy, thick texture compared with other Chanel glosses, which allows for longer wear. They have the classic Chanel scent and black sleek packaging.

Insouciance is a beautiful nude with subtle shimmer. To me this color fits right in with fall for me. I love a shimmery nude gloss paired with a soft brown smokey eye. I think this color would be perfect for that. I definitely see myself wearing this color quite often, especially with the Insouciante Rouge Allure from the Spring 2010 collection. The gloss goes beautifully with it.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss: Natural & Smokey Look

I never really paid much attention to the cosmetics brand NYX before.  I had seen it at Ulta before never gave it a second glance.  Then I started watching tutorials on MakeupGeek’s YouTube channel and saw Marlena use several of their products. So the other day I was at Ulta and saw that NYX was on sale. I decided to check out a few of their Mega Shine Lip Glosses, the colors I picked are Natural & Smokey Look.

Top: Smokey Look  Bottom: Natural

Both glosses are very shiny & apply smoothly on the lips. They have a cream finish that is relatively pigmented. Natural is a fleshy nude pink that really enhances the color of my lips.  Smokey Look is a slightly milky peach nude.  This color lightens and brightens up my pout without looking to milky when applied.

L to R: Natural, Smokey Look

Overall, I am pretty impressed with the NYX glosses. They are a quality product with a small price tag. I will definitely be purchasing more of these in the future.

Lip of the Day: Chanel Beige Felin & Petit Peche

When I was out shopping this weekend, I stopped by my favorite Chanel counter. I haven’t really been by any Chanel counter recently, so I wanted to sit down and look at some newer products. I left the counter with several products, two of those being Rouge Coco in Beige Felin 01 ($30) & Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in Petit Peche 148 ($27).  This combo is definitely going to be my new everyday fall lip.

Beige Felin in the tube and when swatched is a neutral rosy brown, but when applied to my lips pulls a light more peachy brown.  It has a light creamy texture and gives semi-opaque coverage. I find that this formula is indeed very hydrating and seems to be quite long wearing.  I can go up to three hours without reapplying, which is a miracle for me because I am constantly rubbing my lips together.

Beige Felin

Petit Peche is a sheer peachy pink with subtle shimmer. As with all Chanel glossimers, Petit Peche adds plenty of shine to your lips. Petit Peche is sheer when applied to lips, with a hint of milkiness. It’s a great color to through on easily when you are out and about.

Petit Peche

Now together these colors make a beautiful pair. The peach pinky shimmer goodness of Petit Peche really complements and brings out the peach in Beige Felin. The combo is great for everyday and night as well.

Edward Bess: Secret Desire & Endless Love

I was so excited when I saw that my order from Neiman Marcus had arrived yesterday.  The reason I was so excited was that inside that little box was something I was super duper pumped about.  I received two products from Edward Bess, Ultra Slick Lipstick in Secret Desire ($32) and Deep Shine Lip gloss in Endless Love ($30).  This is my second Edward Bess order because I simply love the first lipstick & gloss I purchased in Pure Impulse & Soft Whisper (see that review here).

Secret Desire Ultra Slick Lipstick is a beautiful neutral pink.  To me, it is the perfect “my lips but better” lip color.  I love it! It has a cream glossy finish that applies like a dream and excellent pigmentation. I will definitely be carrying this color with me wherever I go. So far, Edward Bess lipsticks have really impressed me.

Ultra Slick Lipstick in Secret Desire

Endless Love is a new edition to the Deep Shine lip gloss collection.  It’s a creamy baby pink that makes my bare lips look natural and glossy. It also looks amazing over Secret Desire and gives that lip color an extra glossy look. I love the way the Deep Shine lip gloss feel on my lips, very light and moisturizing.  Plus, I adore the fig scent that all the products have.  This will definitely be a go to lip product for me from now on and I looking forward to purchasing more Edward Bess products in the future. I believe he will be coming out with new lipstick and gloss colors in December.
