Chanel Superstition Rouge Coco

Chanel Superstition Rouge Coco ($32.50) is a beautiful shimmering nude peach beige released in the Spring 2012 collection. Superstition is pretty sheer compared to other Rouge Coco shades but it still allows your natural lip color to show through.  Most super nude lip colors make me look too washed out but this shade does not.  It has a soft shimmer finish that is not frosty but gives more of a sheen.  Overall a beautiful shade I can see myself wearing a lot this summer, I don’t think I have a shade quite like this in my collection.

Chanel Ombre Contraste Duo in Sable-Emouvant

Chanel released a new Ombre Contraste Eyeshadow Duo ($42) with their Summer 2012 collection, Sable-Emouvant. The Contraste Duos are a pairing of complementary shades with two different textures, a light creamy powder and a dark shade with intense micronized shimmer.
Sable-Emouvant is neutral lovers dream containing a soft shimmery beige and a micro-shimmer brown with red undertones. It’s a classic combo that is easily blendable, buttery soft and nicely pigmented. It's one of those duos that goes with just about any lip color and can be worn day or night. For day, apply the lighter color on the lid, and then apply darker color in the crease. For night, apply the dark shade to the lid and smoke out a little beyond the crease, then apply the light shade on the brow bone and inner corner of the eye for illumination. I see myself wearing this duo all year round.

Chanel En Vouge Rouge Coco Shine

The Rouge Coco Shine ($32.50) formula has to be my favorite Chanel lipstick formula.  They apply so smoothly and without effort, plus the color range is beautiful.  I also find that they moisturize my lips quite well and the rosy scent is so elegant.  The shade En Vogue didn’t really catch my eye too much because the color is way out of my comfort zone.  After reading some other reviews of this color, which is from the Summertime de Chanel Summer 2012 Collection, I decided to give it a try.
En Vogue is a sheer coral, which is very on trend for this summer.  It looks a little bright in the tube but when applied you get is a very sheer, gel-like coral with pink undertones.  En Vogue doesn’t have any shimmer that I can detect, if it does, its very, very subtle.  This is a great color for someone like me who is often scared of bright lip color. It adds just the right pop of color to my lips that doesn’t say “HELLO, I’m wearing bright lipstick!!”  Overall a great color for summer! I am slowly but surely stepping out of the neutral box when it comes to lipsticks and lipglosses.

Le Métier de Beauté Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss in Ibiza

Le Métier de Beauté Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss ($32) is a very sheer gloss that gives a subtle tint with lots of shine. All the shades offered are very elegant and classic shades that are universal.  They contain vitamin E and Lanolin to soften & moisturize the lips.  I found that the texture is very silky and applies easily and is not sticky what so ever.
Le Métier gloss in Ibiza is a soft warm shimmery pink.  It gives my lips a touch of pink with a super glossy shimmery finish.  It’s not the longest wearing lip gloss but the color and effect it gives to the lips sure is beautiful. One other thing I like about this gloss is that it has no scent.  I prefer my gloss without to heavy of a scent or none at all, so that’s a plus in my book.  Ibiza works great on its own but looks even better applied over your favorite pink or peach lipstick.  I couldn't get a good swatch photo because the gloss could barely be seen on my hand. Sorry!

How Cute!!!

Just a quick post to show you guys the Sephora birthday gift from Fresh Beauty. It's a mini Sugar Kisses lip duo!  How cute!!  I love this product, so this is the best b-day gift!  It comes with the original formula and the Rose formula.  Just wanted to share the cuteness!

Edward Bess Ultra Luminous Eyeshadow in Escape

I already own a few of Edward Bess eyeshadows, Intimate, Dusk and Mystery.  They make for wonderful neutral eye combos for day or nighttime.  I decided to add a new EB shadow to my collection, Escape ($30).
With summer upon us, I am all about the bronze and gold shades, whether just shimmery or metallic, I love them all.  Escape is just the color I have been wanting, scratch that, needing.  Escape is a beautiful warm copper with a touch of bronze.  Just like the other EB shadows, Escape is wonderfully pigmented and buttery soft.  All though this shade is not super shimmery or metallic, it has a subtle sheen that is classic and elegant.  When applied it gives the lids a warm glow.  I like to wear it alone with bronzy eyeliner for day and for night I like to add a little Mystery, which is a deep brown, in the crease for smokiness and depth.

Le Métier de Beaute Haute House Hues Lip Crème Duo in Tickled Pinks

Each season Neiman Marcus fashion director, Ken Downing partners with Le Métier de Beaute to create a small beauty collection. This spring, NM introduced the Haute House Hues Collection which includes the Tickled Pinks Lip Crème Lip Gloss Duo ($65) in Mum's the Word and Two Lips. This collection is limited edition and exclusive to Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. I do have to agree with Mr. Downing, these colors are great for spring! One is soft and simple, the other bright and fun. Both Lip Crèmes are super pigmented, one with a touch of sheen and the other a creamy finish. They are almost like liquid lipsticks, not shiny like a gloss would be; they give a satiny creamy finish.

Two Lips is a pale peach with subtle sheen. This color quite bright and opaque when first applied but once you blend into your lips, the color melts right in. I can see myself wearing this color more often that Mum’s the Word because it’s more of an everyday kind of shade.
Left: Mum's the Word Right: Two Lips

Mum's the Word is a cool creamy bright pink. It’s a little scary looking in the packaging but when applied its actually quite beautiful. It can be applied heavily for a full on fuchsia lip or lightly applied for a bright stain. Also, if the color seems to overwhelming you could always mix a little of Two Lips with it to tone down the brightness. Either way you wear it, it’s a great color for spring/summer.

Edward Bess Illuminating Eyeshadow Base in Cashmere

Illuminating Eyeshadow Base ($30) is a new product launched by Edward Bess.  It comes in three shades, Cashmere, Dune & Suede. I purchased the lightest shade in Cashmere, creamy light beige. These come in a twist pen applicator with a built in brush. This shade blends quite well into my light skin and seems to even out the skin tone a bit.  I am always on the look for a shadow base that will cover the few small veins I have on my lids.  This base seems to cover them lightly but not all the way.
Illuminating Eyeshadow Base applies smoothly and is super easy to blend.  It feels light and natural on the lids.  You don’t need much product for an application; a little goes a long way. I apply a little to the lid with the brush applicator then smooth it out with my finger.  I have been using this product for a few days now and have not noticed any major creasing and shadows really do seem to last all day (or a least the 8 hours I am at work).
Overall, I am pretty impressed with this product.  I think I might pick up the medium shade, Dune, to use for the summer when my skin is more tan.  Edward Bess products are available at Sephora.com, Zuneta.com, Neimanmarcus.com or BergdorfGoodman.com. You can also find it at Edward Bess counters at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.

Burberry Lip Mist in Pink Heather

Since I have decided that I love the Burberry Lip Mist formula, I decided to add another color from the Iconic Nudes collection, Pink Heather. I just love the sheer creamy formula, so I had to have another.
Pink Heather is a soft cool pink, which is much more pigmented than the other two Lip Mists that I picked up (Nude Peach & Field Rose). This shade is extremely natural looking and enhances my natural lip color perfectly. I normally lean to warmer shades, but recently I have really been digging cooler ones. I have included swatches of Field Rose and Pink Heather so you can see the difference in pigmentation and color. Field Rose also has a slight sheen, whereas Pink Heather has a cream finish (no shimmer). Love, Love this formula, definitely check it out if you haven’t already!!

Hourglass Femne Rouge Lipstick in Fable

Recently, as I was browsing through Sephora, I stumbled across Hourglass Cosmetics. I have never paid too much attention to this brand before but after taking a look at some of their products, I realized its quite an amazing brand. I decided to try out one of the Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipsticks ($30).
The Femme Rouge formula is described as “a silky, richly pigmented formula that defines and shapes the lips as it moisturizes. It contains Vitamin E and claims to be water resistant. As you know, I am a sucker for a nude lipstick, so I choose the shade Fable, a beautiful pink-nude. Besides coming in cool, sleek packaging, the texture of this lipstick is so smooth and creamy. It in fact does provide a moisturizing formula that stays moisturizing and doesn't dry out . I don’ t have a nude shade quite like Fable. I have compared it to my other nude lipsticks and it really stands out. Overall, a great spur of the moment purchase!

May 2012 Birchbox

I recently signed up for Birchbox which is a beauty website that delivers hand-picked deluxe beauty samples to your door every month from $10. I love to sample out products before I buy to see if they are worth paying the full price, so Birchbox is great way to do just that. You fill out a profile when you join and they send you products picked especially for you. They also offer beauty tips and tricks on their site as well as full size products to purchase. This is my first month of my Birchbox subscription, so let’s check out what I got…..

The may Birchbox came with four deluxe samples; Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm, Color Club Nail Polish in Disco Nap, Dr. Jart+ Waterfuse BB Cream & Ojon Volume Advance Shampoo. All four samples are definitely products I would want to try out, especially the BB Cream and Ojon shampoo. I have only gotten to use these products for a few days so I don’t have a review of them but I will tell you a little about each product.
Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm ($65 retail) is an anti-aging eye balm that promises to tackle dehydration, fine lines, puffiness and dark circles, which are all problems I currently have with my under eyes. It contains Alguronic Acid that is derived from deep sea microalgae to fight signs of aging by promoting cell regeneration. It also contains cumber extract to soothe and hydrate and a dose of caffeine to conquer puffiness. So far I like the way this products applies, its light and not overly hydrating like some anti-aging eye creams can be.
Color Club nail polish in Disco Nap ($8 retail) is a gilded metallic gold from the Foil Collection. It has a super shimmery finish and is a perfect and fun color for spring/summer. All of the Color Club nail polishes are free of formaldehyde and parabens.
I have wanted to tryout a BB (Beauty Balm) Cream since they are the new thing in beauty, so when I received a sample of Dr. Jart’s Water Fuse Beauty Balm ($32 retail), I was excited to try it. This BB Cream is a moisturizer, sunscreen, and treatment serum all-in-one. It’s a tinted balm that helps hide imperfections, so it was act as foundation and there is no need for cover-up. It contains a combination of glacier water; deep ocean water, hyaluronic acid, and aloe vera deeply hydrate skin. This cream also has a broad-spectrum SPF 25+, to blocks UVA and UVB rays. I have been using this for a couple days now and so far really like it.
Ojon Volume Advance Shampoo ($22 retail) is a coconut-derived formula which boosts volume by gently getting rid of the scalp oils and residue that weigh hair down. The star ingredient is Ojon oil which comes from the nuts of the Ojon tree found in Central American rain forests. Coconut oil tames while Peruvian amaranth extracts remove oily debris and build-up, helping hair appear thicker and fuller. I haven’t had a chance to try this shampoo yet but I have always wanted to try the Ojon products. I will let you know what I think once I give it a try.
Overall I am super excited about my Birchbox subscription. The samples I received are ideal for my skin type and style. It will be an exciting event when it arrives at my door every month. If you don’t have a subscription, you can join here.

Chanel Empriente Rouge Coco Shine

Included in Chanel's Summertime de Chanel 2012 Collection are two new Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks ($32.50), En Vogue and Empriente. Both are perfect shades for summer, one a bold coral (En Vogue) and one neutral (Empriente) and both are limited edition. I am not too fond of coral lips, even though it’s very on trend at the moment, but it just doesn’t suit me or maybe I haven’t found the right shade. Any who, I chose Empriente because as you know neutrals are my go to when it comes to lippies.
I simply love this color! Chanel describes this color as “soft beige” which is pretty on point but I would describe it more as a peachy nude with subtle shimmer. The texture is soft and shiny and applies flawlessly to the lips. The color is quite sheer but can be built up on my lips to give pretty decent coverage. One of my favorite ways to wear any of the Rouge Coco Shines is over the top of a great lip liner. I fill in my lips with the liner and top of with the Shine and it looks great. I use my Boots No. 7 Nude lip liner or Bobbi Brown Pale Pink with the Rouge Coco Shine shade Boy all the time. I tried out Empriente with Bobbi Brown Beige lip liner and it really brings more color to the lips and helps it last longer. I love the soft rose scent that the Rouge Coco Shines have as well. It’s nice to have a lipstick with a scent other than vanilla like most lipsticks out there.

Bobbi Brown Miami Collection Treatment Lip Shines

Bobbi Brown released four new shades of Treatment Lip Shines ($23) with the Summer 2012 Miami Collection; Pink Seashell, Orchid Pink, Sunset and Peach Sorbet.  I picked up two shades, Pink Seashell – pink nectar (to me, a warm peachy pink) and Orchid Pink – light heather pink (a soft cool pink).  The Treatment Lip Shines have a SPF 15 and contain rejuvenating moisturizers such as natural Cocoa and Shea Butters, Jojoba, Apricot Kernel and Avocado oils.  The formula is llightweight and gives lips soft shine that doubles as a moisturizing treatment. They instantly comforts dry lips and provides long-term hydration.
Both colors are great everyday shades that give lips a nice wash of color.  Pink Seashell leans to the warmer pink (almost peachy) side, where Orchid Pink leans cooler.  I am kind of loving Orchid Pink with a bronzy eye (Beach Bronze Long-wear cream eyeshadow) and cheeks.  I am always surprised how much color you get from these lip shines.  These have about as much pigment as a regular lipstick but with more shine.  If you don’t own any of the Treatment lip shines you should definitely check them out.  The compact small tube packaging makes it’s super easy to take anywhere, from your handbag to even you pants pocket.

Bobbi Brown Miami Collection Long-wear Cream Eyeshadows

Bobbi Brown has introduced her Summer 2012 collection entitled Miami. The collection consists of four new shades of Long-Wear Cream Shadow ($24) in Copper, Bronze Sugar, Nude Beach, and Candlelight. I picked up three of the shades in Candlelight, Nude Beach and Bronze Sugar.

I really love the Long-Wear Cream Shadow formula, especially the shimmer finish shades.
The cream color has a soft, smooth finish and is easily blendable and buildable. You can either apply with your fingers or a brush, but I like to use both. I apply first with my fingers then buff out the edges with a MAC 217 brush. All three shades from the Miami Collection have a shimmer, some more than others. But one thing is for sure; all shades have such a beautiful gleam about them. The formula is in fact pretty long-wearing as the name suggested and I find I don’t have to touch up at all through out the day. The shades almost melt together to create a beautiful shimmering eye.
Candlelight is described as a pale gold and that is exactly what you get. This is the lightest shade in the collection and is perfect to highlight the brow bone or inner corner of the eye. From what I can see, it has tiny flecks of sparkle in it as well. This shade would also serve as a great base shadow.
Nude Beach is described as a shimmering pink nude. I don’t get too much pink from swatching it or looking at it in the pot, it seem peachier to me. The color blends into my skin tone well, so it was difficult to see when applied to my lids. This is a great base shade for me and that’s what I will probably use it for mostly. It has just a touch of soft shimmer, which is really pretty.
Beach Bronze is described as brown bronze and that is a pretty spot on description. This is my favorite shade in the collection because it really makes my brown eyes shimmer with bronzy goodness. This highly pigmented, shimmery shade is perfect for summer and would look beautiful with tanned, bronzed skin.
I purchased these shadows on the Bobbi Brown website, check them out here.
